Ashland County
Ashland County spans 427 square miles with a population of more than 53,000. Most of the area consists of agricultural farmland along with a sprinkling of villages, townships, and the city of Ashland. The city sits at Exit 186 on I-71 which has a traffic count of Over 50,000 vehicles in a 24-hour period.
With easy access to and from the interstate, airports, and rail, Ashland is a prime choice for relocation or expansion. The Ashland Business Park, located within the city limits, is home to Barbasol, Packaging Corporation of America, Lippert Enterprises, and Novatex North America. Snyder’s-Lance, Hedstrom Plastics, Step 2, and Mansfield Plumbing Products round out the more than 85 manufacturers in Ashland County. Barbasol, LLC just began construction on their Phase 3 expansion of their facility. Ashland, Ohio is the only location in the US where Barbasol shaving cream and Pure Silk are manufactured. There are 53 million cans of shaving cream produced annually in this one plant.
Ashland County has been Nationally Recognized for Business Development through Site Selection Magazine’s Conway Data. Ashland County ranked #6 in the Top Micropolitan in the US for 2014; #22 in 2015; and #78 in 2016. Ashland Area Economic Development and its team of 20 volunteers continue to help to secure this prestigious ranking. Ashland is on pace to have enough projects in 2017 to crack the Top 5.
Ashland University, a private institution, placed in the Top 200 colleges and universities in the National Universities category by U.S. News and World Report for 2013. They also were ranked in the Top 15 over performing colleges in the nation in 2013. Additionally, four out of six of our public school systems have been ranked “excellent” or higher by the State of Ohio.
